Important announcement Changes to upcoming services At All Saints Church

Due to the tremendous increase in Covid cases over the past few days, we have looked at our upcoming services and risk assessments and have decided to make a few changes to ensure we are doing our part in keeping people as safe as possible so that you can enjoy Christmas with your loved ones. The changes are as follows:

‘Family Style’ Carol Concert Sunday 19th December 3pm – This has been cancelled

Due to the predicted high numbers for this service, we have decided that this would be unwise to hold from a public safety point of view. This service has been cancelled and as an alternative we will be providing ‘Carols in the Churchyard’ and a new ‘Waiting for Jesus’ service. Please see below for details.

The Nativity that is being performed at this service by the Little Fishes toddler group and the volunteers will be held as a private closed event for Little Fishes and their families only so that this comes in line with our risk assessments.

Traditional Nine Lessons and Carols – Sunday 19th December – 6pm – This service has been cancelled and replaced with the following:

As this service involves a lot of singing, we decided this is too risky to proceed with this at this time. We have been busy with the help of Peter Ralley, recording our Christmas Choir Anthems so that we can bring you this service with a difference!

Our All Saints Church Choir will be performing a Christmas Concert on the big screen so that there will be no increased risk from singing live in church. The church will be beautifully lit with candles to provide a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy this performance along with readings. We are also providing two opportunities for this performance so that our numbers can be reduced in each service. They are:

Sunday 19th December at 5pm

Sunday 19th December at 7pm

Please wrap up warm as there will be increased ventilation in the building.

Carols in the churchyard – these were really popular last year and will give a wonderful alternative to the carol concerts in our church building for the services that have been cancelled or for those who prefer to be a little more cautious at this time.

Tuesday 21st December 3pm

Thursday 23rd December 3pm

Please bring along instruments, chairs and hot drinks and we will provide song sheets and meet us in ‘Muffins field’ around the Christmas tree provided by the Arts festival.

Waiting for Jesus – Christmas Eve - New time of 2pm and now held in Churchyard

As this is a very popular service, we didn’t want to cancel due to high numbers so we will be holding this in the churchyard weather permitting at the new time of 2pm so that it will still be light. Come dressed as a character from the Nativity and bring your favourite toys and we will re-enact the special story of our Saviour birth with songs and fun around the Christmas Tree in muffins field. Bring chairs if you wish and instruments to play and hot drinks!

We will also be providing an online ‘Waiting for Jesus’ which you can access from our website on Christmas Eve.

At this time we are hoping to offer the Midnight Mass and Christmas Day services, however these will be kept under review as we wait to see what will happen over the coming days, so please check our social media or website for any updates! We will also be providing an on-line Christmas Eve late night service which you can access on our website from 9pm on Christmas Eve.

We hope you agree that the above changes whilst unfortunate are necessary at this time and we hope that they will provide everyone with a wonderful alternative to help us all enjoy and celebrate Christmas at this very tricky time!
